Songs of Travel at Leigh-on-Mendip Church

Trio  Paradis - Jacquelyn Bevan - piano, Lisa Betteridge - violin & Linda  Stocks - cello -  play a café concert at St Giles' Church on the first Friday afternoon of each month except February (April-September concerts will be in the church, moving to the village hall for October-March concerts).

August's programme is a collection of pieces inspired by places, familiar and exotic, one might visit for a holiday, and includes a variety of C19th- early C20th gems: Kashmiri Song by Amy Woodforde-Finden, Orientale by Cui, Bolero by Ferdinandez Arbos, Dvorak Hungarian Dance in E minor, Veneziana by Sternberg and Grieg Wedding Day at Troldhaugen.

The concert lasts about 45m and is suitable for all ages, including  families. Refreshments will be available in the church café before the concert. Entrance is free with a retiring collection on a pay-what-you-feel basis. Booking not necessary - just turn up.
