About the event
Trio Paradis play the third in a series of evening concerts at Persephone Books. The programme consists of music by Russian composers, women composers … and even some Russian women composers to mark the publication of a remarkable novella, Sofia Petrovna, by Lydia Chukovskaya.
The music has been chosen to reflect moments in the novella, in chronological order, creating a unique programme. Composers include Glinka, Balakirev, Mussorgsky, Rimsky-Korsakov, Tchaikovsky, Leokadiya Kashpérova, Helena Łopuska and Julia Weißberg (a world première of a trio arrangement of her ‘Chanson d’Automne’, a setting of Paul Verlaine’s haunting poem)…
